I Knew This Would Happen

Obama told Fox News, in a rare appearance on Fox, that he had never actually heard his pastor speak in anti-American manner that has been all over the internet in recent days.  I told hubby as we were watching the interview that it stretched credulity that in 20 years in the pews of Trinity, he'd never heard him say such things, and if indeed he had, it would not be long before it was out in the blogosphere.  It can be found here, here, and most importantly here;

"Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers to "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."

In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22."

How does he know?  He was there;

"As I approached the entrance of the church before a recent Sunday service, a large young man in an expensive suit stepped out to block the doorway.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I came to hear Dr. Wright," I replied.

After an uncomfortable pause, the gentleman stepped aside.

On this particular July Sabbath morning, only a handful of white men — aside from a few members of Obama's Secret Service detail — were present among a congregation of approximately 2,500 people."

In today's high tech, internet connected world, it was only a matter of time before there were eyewitnesses coming forward.  Obama should have known better.  I guess for Obama, it's only "racist" when it's a question of his being "black", but not when his minister spews racism from the pulpit.

"The forces of division have begun to raise their ugly head again," Obama said.

"It reminds me: We've got a tragic history when it comes to race in this country. A lot of pent-up anger and mistrust and bitterness. This country wants to move beyond these kinds of things."

The Illinois senator's comments came a day after he denounced statements appearing on television and on the Internet by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, pastor of the Chicago church Obama joined nearly 20 years ago."

I'm sorry, Senator Obama, I do not believe your derision of Dr. Wright's statements.  Political expediency has been outed, as predicted.

    Dear Dagney,
    How are you? Thanks for picking up that blog post re Rachel Ehrenfeld. I can't believe this isn't the biggest headline in every paper for the past six months. Please do stay on it. By the way, we know each other. Originally met at a Sore-Loserman rally in Times Square, and then I saw you at some other conservative events. Best, Julia
